Taking pride of place at the Mining Institute’s Neville Hall in the heart of Newcastle, our exhibition of technician portraits and stories has been inspiring visitors all summer. We have been blown away by the positive feedback and the great response we had to our competition to nominate a technician to feature in the last two weeks of the exhibition. Speaking of which ….

Drumroll please 🥁

Congratulations to Jessica Mehers, technician in Lancaster University’s Chemical Engineering department who has been selected to appear, pride of place, for the last two weeks of the exhibition! Jessica was nominated by her colleague John Baum who believes her commitment to supporting the wider technician community and her dedication to outreach activities, including her work with Afrinspire to provide over 40 secondary schools in rural Uganda with chemistry teacher training and science equipment to teach chemistry, made her a very fitting candidate to feature in our campaign. We heartily agree!

You will be able to see Jessica in the exhibition from next week. For all the details about where to find us, go straight to our page on the Great Exhibition of the North website.
